Last news of COSMO-SAT

Following the recruitment of Théo MAUGER as a PhD student at GIPSA-Lab in Grenoble (February 2024), Jean-Baptiste MAILLET has just been recruited as a post-doc at GPM in Rouen to work on the COSMOSAT project.

At the same time, the room that will house the instrument is being installed at GPM (Rouen). The COSMO-SAT prototype has been designed, and all parts and contracts have been launched. We are starting to take delivery of some of the building blocks that will enable it to be constructed in the near future. If all goes well, we hope to have the prototype under vacuum by summer 2025!

Staff recruited on COSMO-SAT

Théo Mauger. PhD COSMO-SAT at GIPSA-Lab (Grenoble)

After graduating in mathematics from Sorbonne University, Théo completed a master's degree in applied mathematics and statistics at the University of Bordeaux, first in Partial Differential Equations - Modeling in M1, then in Image and Data Science in M2. Théo began his thesis on the COSMO-SAT project in February 2024, working on statistical learning methods for mass spectrum analysis using tomographic atomic probes (Axis 3).

Jean-Baptiste Maillet. Post-doct COSMO-SAT at GPM (Rouen)

After a Master's degree in Matter Sciences and Materials Engineering at the University of Rouen, Jean-Baptiste completed a thesis in scientific instrumentation at the GPM in Rouen, during which he focused on the in-situ implantation and characterization of atomic probe hydrogen in metallic materials. After defending his thesis in December 2024, he started a post-doc in the COSMO-SAT project (Axe 1) on February 1, 2025 at the GPM. His main tasks will be to monitor the construction of the COSMO-SAT prototype with the project's IT team, to test and optimize the laser pulsation capabilities and the detection system (hardware and software optimization), and to evaluate performance on initial geological samples.
