SILLAGES at Biennale Internationale Design 2025
The 13th edition of the Biennale Internationale du Design opened its doors from May 22 to July 06, this year under the theme “Ressource(s), présager demain” (Resource(s), foreshadowing tomorrow). The Jean Monnet University, via the ARTS Institute (Arts, Research, Territories, Knowledge), is proposing a series of research and creations aligned with this theme. The “Nos Terres de Feu” installation from the “Sillages” Art and Science project will be on display from May 23 to June 13!
- Our firelands – May 23 to June 13, 2025
This installation, conceived by artist Étienne Pageault and mineralogist Anne-Magali Seydoux-Guillaume, invites us to consider industrial wastes as new geological deposits, specific to the Anthropocene. She develops an imaginary world of flux, regeneration and rebirth of sites marked by human activity.
Installation: paralavas and porcelanites extracted from the Saint-Pierre slag heap, paralavas powder, porcelanites, salts and coal in liquid solution, laminated panels.
Contributors: Étienne Pageault, visual artist; Anne-Magali Seydoux-Guillaume, mineralogist, CNRS research director (LGL-TPE – CNRS / UJM / ENS Lyon / Lyon 1)
