Publication and protection on the Valanginian Boundary Stratotype Section and Point
Following the ratification by the IUGS (International Union of Geological Sciences) of the GSSP (boundary stratotype) of the Valanginien in September 2024, Stéphane Reboulet and his collaborators have just put the associated publication online.
Protection of remarkable areas
In parallel with the publication of this GSSP, Stéphane Reboulet concluded with the department of Drôme the protection of certain geological sites by prefectural decree, including the GSSP Valanginien, as well as those of Hauterivien (La Charce) and Albien (Arnayon).
This protection is now accompanied by a request for authorization for samples of these sections. Steps are underway to strengthen the communication of this regulation, for example by providing an English translation.
