“Zircon petrogenesis during high-grade metamorphism: in situ and “in context” correlation of U-Pb, εHf, δ18O , REE and the impact of local equilibria”

Abstract:

Zircon petrogenesis during high-grade metamorphism: in situ and “in context” correlation of U-Pb, εHf, δ18O , REE and the impact of local equilibria

Combining pressure (P), temperature (T) and time (P-T-t) in metamorphic lithologies is complex, due to the multiple events that occur, sometimes at different levels of equilibrium. This can negate or complicate the preservation of mineral history, and de facto challenge our ability to decipher and understand the evolution of a metamorphic rock from the ‘photo-finish’. During this seminar, I will take the example of the Najac eclogite, whose P-T-t path is well constrained by various petrochronometers, to investigate in more detail the REE, U-Pb, εHf and δ18O recording of zircon during metamorphism.
